Revealed: Foley still in World Cup mix after Australia A call up, Cooper pulls pin as Hooper ruled out
I am not saying Jones has not contradicted himself to the players as well as the media but Cooper’s reaction to that of Foley and Hooper is very stark.
On Cooper playing second fiddle, i am not entirely sure Cooper would be happy with that in his swansong World Cup campaign.
Waugh is a feisty character so I am sure he has said the things you suggest.
Jones has made a selection call to go with youth, would is it you are suggesting should be written about him? Not being smart, just genuinely asking.
I am very much a believer of say what you mean and mean what you say but unfortunately, Jones is a law unto himself.
He is the national coach for this world cup, nothing will change that whether people are stoked about that or not.

On the other hand the man who has played 125 caps for the country and captained almost as many is saying he will put his hand up and continue to train hard to be selected. Do you not think Hooper was given the same vision. I think these are two polar opposites and stark differences in character. Being different and showing emotion is great but not putting your hand up for a second chance is not it. IMO, again just my opinion.

Bit harsh Botchee. I think Wilson will be a whole lot better in 2024 for the time he has had in 2023. Hopefully he won’t have to ball run as much and can add some subtle technique changes to his game. He is still one of the better Super Rugby Pacific players.

Hey Ken, Jones has always been clear he will only pick players who want to play for Australia and who look to build the game at home. Cooper electing not to play for Australia A is not sending that signal to the rugby public or his teammates. His fury as Christy has labeled it at being left out is not the emotion I would think to be aligned with his omission, disappointment, hurt, desperation perhaps but fury sounds like someone didn’t get what they thought they deserved which is not the way national selection on the biggest stage works.

Daugunu has his most impactful games at 13 this year SD, I am keen to see him grow in this role. He is both strong and abrasive, he just needs time to learn the role.

Quade Cooper having a sook is not inline with his zen persona seen of late. You wanna play for your country or you don’t this is not a good look for a bloke who has played all of 7 full tests in the last three years. not sure Foley is the next runner up in my eyes but glad he decided to stick around and grow the team.
For Jason Gilmore: “It is a quality squad with a good mix of experience and youth throughout… however the most important thing for us will be to play well together as a team.”
Cohesion and clarity are the two things which undid the rag-tag squad in Tonga, it is the one thing I would like to see them address.
They have the players but they must hit the reset button and just learn to play as a unit, they may be playing for individual spots but Eddie will cherish the ability to play well alongside the team.

So much has happened Ken! More pieces will be out this week to look ahead to RWC!
The 23 Wallabies to win a RWC quarterfinal - and the 10 others who should be in Eddie Jones' squad
Yeah, as I have written, it’s the guys around the two you’ve mentioned that worry me.= in regards to mauling and Broncan himself.
ANALYSIS: Wallabies' maul is falling short and their French coach must fix it fast
I think Wales are building well but there are some basics they are missing and I just don’t see them challenging seriously. Fitness won’t be an issue for us or them, but I am wary of the Bigger effect he is a great leader and they rally behind him.
Fiji on the other hand are terrifying. England look poor, the exception being Eliot Daley, Freddie Stewart, Earl and Ollie Lawrence.
Scotland this World Cup’s dark horse.

I agree, but that is a personnel question and I am struggling to see people outside the RWC team I named in my last article and the players Jones has picked to be able to do anything but just work hard at it until we get to Paris.

A full piece is not needed on the scrum, unfortunately, it came down to Pone playing his first game and playing 60+, he’s a 40 minute player atm at best, having played off the bench the whole season.
Secondly, Nonggorr is not test standard yet, hence why Jones withheld him at Dunedin.
With Tupou starting and Pone finishing we should be able to hold the fort.

Hey Qualify I’m sure it’s just a typo but I think you mean Arnold, not Frost.

This is 100% correct Bodge, Jones and his assistants have said as much.

Hey Wiganboy I can’t see us needing another hooker who doesn’t throw straight.

Thanks for the wraps Sofa Coach!
You make a lot of good points particularly around OS selection thoughts. It will be telling who Jones selects in a little over 28 hours.

Not sure if the school boy comment is based on age or appearance Tooly? Most of the standouts in the squad thus far are 25 and under so unsure where the slight rings true.

Not a bad looking team Ozinsa!

No Sio?

G’day Roland, it is too late in the piece as I have stated to bring in a second row, and you open a can of OS worms if Richie isn’t picked who are your other OS picks?

BPA is set to be signed to the Western Force next year and so may be available through a loophole.
The 23 Wallabies to win a RWC quarterfinal - and the 10 others who should be in Eddie Jones' squad
Wow, 3 player overlap in the starting XV and 4 on the bench, seven in total.
What’s the overlap with South Africa? interesting yarn in that perhaps.
Cheers DGS.
The 23 Wallabies to win a RWC quarterfinal - and the 10 others who should be in Eddie Jones' squad
I like Sio too as I have noted elsewhere but he would be a OS pick, we would have to drop someone and I don’t see Jones doing that, nor would it be possible for me as a ‘would be’ selector.
The 23 Wallabies to win a RWC quarterfinal - and the 10 others who should be in Eddie Jones' squad
I honestly reckon once this RWC is over we will see a different look team. So who knows who Jones will select when Bill is no longer hanging over his head.
