Good effort by Hewett but in the same game, Matt Johnson beat him in every stat:
Kicks – Hewett 20; Johnson 21
Tackles- Hewett 3; Johnson 5
Metres gained- Hewett 67m; Johnson 564m
Disposal efficiency- Hewett 65%; Johnson 66.7%
Goals- Hewett 0; Johnson 1
Marks- Hewett 3; Johnson 9
Inside 50s – Hewett 1; Johnson 7
Johnson regularly performs like this. Overlooked for some strange reason. His size, mobility, class will have him finally on people’s lips but a Rising Star nomination is overdue. I had to campaign for Jye Amiss and now it seems I need to alert folk again.

Even in retirement, I am highly sought after and very well remunerated. If you want to try the Richmond nastiness, you’re going to have to try a different tack.

To actually try to tell a high achiever that his achievements are failures…on a keyboard post…is just staggering. If that’s your need, I’d suggest you just keep on wallowing.

Probably only Wilson and Colyer, maybe Hamling. I’d cut Hughes but JLo likes him. Eric Benning is the only kid not really. Coming on but he is a big boy and a project player.

A strange comment about Freo that they, “…can’t afford to stand still.” That’s exactly what they can do.

They want in no areas. Tall forwards have added depth with the return of Taberner. Amiss, Treacy, Jackson and Sturt have produced 90 goals this season. The smalls are as productive as any club in the AFL.

Mids with such terrific youth plus the return of Fyfe, the emergence of Young and the 2 best rucks in the game are left wanting nothing.

Down back they have 3 top talls plus Hamling and 3 very good U20yo developing at Peel. The smalls with Clark, the returning Chapman and Walker plus the solid additions of Wagner and Worner leaves no areas of need.

They are the second youngest list in the AFL and will be younger still with the delistings of Wilson and Colyer. All sunshine down at Freo with a solid #20 draft pick coming up.

No real need for a long term opener…or a long term anything. Warner and the NSW quicks illustrate the problems with ‘long term’. Incumbent can be an anchor.

Pick those in form. Continuing form makes them ‘long term’.
